CEDAC and Farmer and Nature Net (FNN) have been working for years in promoting farmers to improve local rice seeds.
As Cambodian farmers are now starting their rice harvest, CEDAC would like ask farmers to select their best panicles from good plants to store as seed to be used during the next season.
Dr. Yang Saing Koma, CEDAC's President, stated that as a result of good rice seed selection, farmers can increase yields up to 20%.
Now is the right time for farmers to select rice seeds for the next season. CEDAC is therefore calling for urgent technical measures to be taken by farmers so that rice yield can be increased next year.
