Supporters of nationalistic "yellow-shirts" planned to stage a rally near the Thai-Cambodian border to demand the release of seven Thais being detained for illegal entry into the neighboring country.

Chaiwat Sinsuwong, core leader of Thailand Patriot Network, told reporters on Sunday that members of his group and other yellow-shirt supporters planned to rally in the eastern province of Sa Kaeo on Tuesday to demand the release of the seven Thais.

Panich Vikitsreth, a Bangkok MP of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's Democrat Party, and other six Thais, were arrested by Cambodian soldiers while visiting disputed border area last Wednesday.

Veera Somkwamkid, another leader of the Thailand Patriot Network, is also among the detainees.

Chaiwat said the seven Thais were on Thai territory while being arrested.

He said some of his group members, who have been rallying in front of the Government House in Bangkok, will travel to Sa Kaeo on Tuesday while others will remain at the protest site in the Thai capital.

Thailand Patriot Network is a group split from the main yellow- shirt bloc, known as People's Alliance for Democracy led by Sondhi Limthongkul, as the network is more aggressive on its demand on the Thai-Cambodian border dispute.

The seven Thais are being detained in a prison in Phnom Penh.

Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya visited Cambodia after their arrest last week, but had failed to secure their release.

Meanwhile, Kasit's secretary Chavanon Intarakomansoot told reporters that the Foreign Ministry is arranging for family members to visit the detainees on Monday.

Chavanon said the Thai government hoped Cambodia would quickly prosecute the Thais so further assistance could be arranged for them.
