The yellow-shirt supporters of the Thailand Patriot Network will not be allowed to rally against Cambodia near the border, Maj Gen Walit Rojanapakdee, commander of the Burapa Force, said on Monday.
Maj Gen Walit said he had coordinated with governor of Sa Kaeo province to hold talks with the network’s core leaders to ask them to rally only in Sa Kaeo’s Khoke Soong district. He did not want any rally near the Thai-Cambodian border area as it could create problems for local residents.
Chaiwat Sinsuwong, a core leader of the network, said at a press conference on Sunday that the yellow-shirts would rally agsinst Cambodia in the eastern border province of Sa Kaeo to morrow, to call for a the release of the seven detained Thais, who include a yellow shirt leader and a Democrat MP.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, who is now having a rest in Tak province, will return to Bangkok this afternoon to prepare for the cabinet meeting tomorrow, reports said, citing a close aide of the prime minister.
On top of the cabinet agenda is the seven Thais being held in Cambodia. Mr Abhisit is also planning to meet Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to discuss the issue, the reports said.
